Meet the team
We are a close, friendly team of professionals, passionate about what we do and ready to turn your ideas into a reality.
David Mott
I’m David Mott (the D M in DMA), Director of DMA. Having trained originally in structural engineering, I progressed through the industry from draughtsman, CAD technician, technical co-ordinator finally to development manager, looking after multi-disciplinary teams. I have worked in both consultants and design and build contractors, and was an assistant manager for a short time running an office in the Middle East. I have, therefore picked up an extensive knowledge within the construction industry.
In 2003, the Consultants I worked for were taken over by a much bigger company and the pull of setting up as a solo practitioner won out. I left in 2005 to form ACS Designs, which traded successfully for over 7 years and built up an impressive portfolio with the team I created. Due to external issues, I regretfully had to close the doors in early 2014.
When one door closes, another opens and I started DMA Building Designs shortly afterwards as a new venture, helping both private clients and small developers working in partnership with building design.
Outside of work, I’m also rather partial to American cars and a bit of a dab hand at woodwork. I have been known to knock up a creation or two from pallets!
Tracy-Anne Butler
Tracy joined DMA in the summer of 2014 when her fourth(!) child was still in nappies. Prior to having children, she began her career working for a multi-national company in London as a pensions administrator, then later became a systems and procedures tester.
With an acute eye for detail, she’s a dab hand at pretty much anything she puts her mind to and as Operations Manager, is the jack of all trades here in the busy DMA office – keeping both us and her family running smoothly.
In 2020, Tracy was promoted to Development Manager, taking on an equal role with David in the running of the company and day-to-day involvement with project work and decisions.
She loves travelling, running, movies and board games - after completing several 10k and half marathons, she ran her first full marathon this year in just over four hours. Hugely impressive. A word of warning…. If you play board games with her, be prepared to lose!!
Rouxleen De Waal
Rouxleen De Waal is our Senior CAD technician. She lives in San Francisco!
Roux (pronounced ‘Roo’) is an experienced Architectural Designer with a demonstrated history of working in the architecture & planning industry. She is a strong arts and design professional with a National Diploma in Architecture focused in Architecture from Technical College Pretoria and is skilled in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Excel, Construction Drawings, and Dropbox.
Former projects included condominiums, penthouses, private houses, offices, hotel lobbies and a four-storey spa complex in China, but she is now an integral part of our team here at DMA - on a freelance basis - where she puts together drawings for residential architecture, including conversions, extensions, lofts, conservatories, landscaping etc using her 2D Autocad skills. With the time difference between West Sussex and San Francisco, thank heavens for email and Dropbox!
In her spare time, Roux loves travelling, kayaking and spending time with her family. Busy Lady.
Joel Passmore
Joel Passmore had been working with us as a contractor before he graduated from university, but since his graduation with both a Batchelor of Arts and, more recently, a Masters in Architecture, we’re delighted he’s joined DMA on a more permanent basis.
Whilst Joel read Architecture at University, we aim to broaden his field with our own varied experience and train him further in the knowledge of the complexities involved in building designs.
A youth worker within his local community, Joel is also an avid gamer – he started his university degree playing Minecraft!
He hasn’t let his dyslexia stop him from pursuing and achieving his dreams. Good man!
